Hi my name is Kim Dunnet-Smith, I got into breeding after buying my first munchkin Devito and I started showing him and really enjoyed seeing the different breeds around, Devito was desexed so I never breed from him.

I had seen the Gaelic fold oversea's  and they stole my heart.

I still show with Catz inc and I am on the committee of the Nine Lives Cat Club

I have always been an animal lover, I have bred fish and turtle's for years and when we sold our Aquarium shop in 2005 I became a sales rep for the pet industry.

We live on a life style block with our cats and 3 dogs as well as chickens and cows.

Through my facebook page Now starring  I stay in touch with alot of  the cats we have bred,

Nothing is nicer for me than seeing updates on the kittens I raise and seeing that the new owner loves them as much as I do.

I couldn't do what I have done with out the help of my Mother Eleanor, she has been amazing and helps me raise the babies in her home when my kitten room is full.

Also I'm very lucky to be friends with and work in with some of the top breeders in NZ,

so this allows my to get new bloodlines in the mix to insure that the aren't bred too closely.

I have been breeding Gaelic Folds since 2013, Prior to that I was breeding Abyssinian's, Napoleons & munchkins,

I got my first Highland Fold Introducing Lyla Lovegood in 2012 and started breeding Gaelic Folds,

Because its a new breed I have had to breed and show 5 kittens or cats a year, its not just breeding them its making sure they have no on going health problems.

At the end of 2016 the standard was set for the Gaelic Folds by Catz inc and

in 2018 they will have completed the breeding program.

They are very difficult to breed, for example from one litter of kittens you may or may not  get only one in a litter that is a Gaelic Fold and then you get Gaelic Variant and some years I would only

get 2 a year.

Variants can have

  • long legs folded ears.

  • long legs normal ears.

  • short legs normal ears.

Gaelic fold's have short legs folded ears they come in shorthair and longhair and I'm working on getting a great mix of colors as well.

In 2014  I got my first long hair British to add to my mix.
